Business Challenge
In 2024, DoSomething partnered with Exadel to modernize its web application. In 2025, they successfully launched a ground-up rebuild that simplified the platform stack, made it easier to extend, and reduced overall technology spend.
As the platform expanded, delivering personalized and engaging digital experiences became increasingly complex. Users interacted with hundreds of actions, educational resources, and community initiatives across multiple touchpoints, while product teams needed faster ways to validate and deliver new capabilities.
This is the first paper in a three-part series. Whitepaper 2 covers Operational Excellence. Whitepaper 3 covers Implementation, Roadmap, and Cloud Deployment.
Exadel's Solution
AI-Automated Volunteer Submission Review
Exadel initially partnered with DoSomething to architect and build a modern solution for its web application. As AI-enabled product engineering and LLMs matured in the marketplace, the partnership evolved to further enhance user experience. The joint team embedded AI to automate volunteer submission review. The team has also integrated AI and LLMs to support content moderation and maintain a safe experience for members of all ages.
Analytics-Driven Product Delivery
Product decisions were supported by a combination of analytics, experimentation, qualitative insights, and iterative delivery. This enabled engineering teams to validate new concepts quickly while continuously improving the platform based on measurable user behavior.
Results:The modernized platform gave DoSomething a scalable foundation for continued growth and faster product evolution. AI-powered submission review has reduced the volunteer review window from 10 days to just minutes for the more than 20,000 submissions received annually, enabling faster member interactions while supporting a safe digital experience for DoSomething's growing community.
