We sat down with HR Assistant Anastasia Sakharchuk to discuss how Exadel, Belarus has helped hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Anastasia shared details about Exadel’s donations and the outcome of our employee-driven fundraising campaign.
In April, Exadel Belarus donated $1000 to the hospital in Rogachev to support doctors’ efforts to curb the COVID-19 outbreak. When Elena Krukovskaya, our Chief Operations Officer, shared the news at a weekly meeting with the Exadel Community, she inspired our employees to launch their own COVID Fundraiser.
Anastasia recounted that the fundraising campaign lasted for nearly two weeks. By the 4th of May, employees in six cities across Belarus had donated 15,670 BYN ($6,360). The next day, Exadel used the donations to purchase respirators and protective coveralls for the Central Ambulance Station in Minsk.
Following this initial donation, Exadel, Belarus donated another 15,670 BYN ($6,360) to the 3rd Children’s Clinical Hospital in Minsk, where according to local reports, doctors were lacking caps and respirator masks.
Anastasia recalled that it took a while to find available supplies and manufacturers because Belarusian law prohibits commercial advertising of medical masks, respirators, and caps. By May, some manufacturers had run out of stock and suggested getting back to them at the end of the summer. Fortunately, one company was able to provide medical supplies immediately.
