We’re looking for an experienced Data Architect! As a part of the customer’s team, you will be a part of an exciting digital transformation of the customer’s business and will be able to define technology solutions that revolutionize the industry. Under the direction of the VP of Technology, the Data Architect will be responsible for setting up the tools, practices, and governance processes for data engineering within a growing, fast-changing retail business. You will also lead the execution and communication of data engineering plans based on emerging data strategy and support end user needs for reporting, dashboards, and ad-hoc analyses.

About Our Project:
The project deals with developing a website for yoga amateurs. We’ll incorporate several existing platforms: Shopify, MindBody, and Zinoty. It will enable amateurs to sign up and schedule yoga classes, watch master classes, and place orders for domain goods.

The goal of the project is to improve the customer’s website, mobile app, and associated infrastructure. The customer needs assistance with a unified identity management solution. Possible solutions paths include:

  • An identity management product (e.g. Ping, Okta, etc.) that would associate multiple logins under a master ID
  • An identity microservice that brokers one ID across the various back-end platforms based on the level of service the student has paid for (e.g. all access, digital only, etc.)

We’re migrating from Salesforce Marketing Cloud to Klaviyo for the email marketing system. We’re migrating from MBO to Zenoti for the POS solution.

Project Technology Stack:

  • Web front end developed in React
  • Mobile app in React Native
  • Contentful to be used as CMS (currently we use Drupal 7 on Acquia)
  • Vimeo to remain in place as hosting/streaming for VOD (if possible)

Responsibilities:

  • Translate enterprise requirements into large-scale, high-performance architectural models
  • Understand current state architecture and prioritize problems and actions
  • Inventory current state and define future state contributing data sources, technologies, interfaces, performance issues, and system configurations
  • Design and analyze data models, data flows, and integration patterns for structural deficiencies/soundness to build a robust and complete future state model
  • Create/review logical entities and define their attributes and relationships between the various data objects
  • Document and maintain a comprehensive enterprise data dictionary to ensure complete, accurate, and valid data and reporting is used consistently throughout the organization
  • Create and chair the data governance committee to ensure additions and changes to the enterprise data and data definitions are approved and clearly communicated Normalize and denormalize data
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data warehouses and customer data platforms directly and in partnership with third-party resources
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources
  • Partner with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
  • Build and optimize data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
  • Build and optimize key reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc analyses as needed
  • Consult with product managers, business analysts, and business SMEs on business process analysis and data usage design
  • Work closely with project management teams to successfully monitor progress of initiatives
  • Provide ad-hoc analyses and data extracts to support business operations

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Architecture
  • 3+ enterprise level analytics implementation
  • Experience with Redshift
  • Proven case studies of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets
  • Demonstrable experience designing and developing Big Data solutions on different cloud platforms
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages like Python or Scala or Spark
  • Expert understanding of database tech including SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Knowledge or experience with data visualization tools like Tableau
  • Tableau certification a plus
  • Able to support Agile Scrum teams with planning, scoping and creation of technical solutions
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Retail or fitness industry expertise a plus
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator (both verbal & written)
  • Knowledge or experience with Hive, Presto, Scuba, and a variety of databases (relational, analytical, transactional)
